When and where to enjoy kitesurfing in Zanzibar

The two best seasons for kitesurfing in Zanzibar are the ones from December to March (the Kaskazi winds are kind in the mornings and brave past midday, making it excellent both for newbies and expert surfers) and the one from June to September (the season of the Kuzi winds, up to 20 knots in the morning and even 28 knots in the afternoon, loved by kitesurfers of the entire world).

The whole island is full of lovely beaches to jump on your table, but of course, there are some unique, perfect spots, always highlighted by those who know them.

Bwejuu

The open beaches on the southeast of the island charm the visitors not only with the winds but also with the isolation feeling you can get, bringing magic to the experience. And since you are right south of the Michamvi Peninsula, you can finish a perfect day with dinner at the famous “The Rock”.

Jambiani

Jambiani offers not just lovely winds and perfect waters for kitesurfers, but a picturesque environment with the dhows and the boats in the sand. It is located midway between Bwejuu at the south, and our next starring: Paje beach.

Paje

Located north of Jambiani, but yet in the southeast of Zanzibar (the best side for kitesurfers), Paje beach is THE hot spot. The best winds, and also the best waters: a shallow extension of the sea where to easily slide with your table, taming the wind. Many veterans come to Paje not once but several times. But if you are a beginner, then there's no doubt: Paje beach is the best spot on the whole island!

So get all your things in your suitcase and come to enjoy the thrilling experience of kitesurfing. Remember we can help you with the lessons and even the equipment at our school Kite Dream Zanzibar. And it’s just beside our Dhow Inn hotel, the lovely lodging in Paje right in front of the sea. The best kitesurfing combo ever!
